Its been a bit quiet over at The Canine Companion as Connie's parents have been busy getting married in Scotland. Connie, of course, was part of the celebrations. To celebrate we had originally planned to go to Arran but due to Storm Ferdinand we decided to go to York instead on our way back to London. Connie had a blast!
Valhalla
Valhalla is a great bar which is viking themed. It serves a variety of refreshments including a tap beers, ales and mead. They offer a snack like menu which also includes charcuterie platters which were delicious. It was a really fun place to visit and I would recommend if you're looking for something a bit different.
Osbornes
Osbornes at 68 Gillygate is a lovely and friendly cafe that really loves their doggy visitors. They even have their own doggy menu so your dog can have lunch with you. Connie very much approved of the sausages. I can see why its so popular!
Eagle and Child
This was a lovely rustic looking pub which served modern fare with an original take on traditional pub food. Very cosy and welcoming! Service was also great as was their drinks selection.
BrewYork Beer Hall
BrewYork is an award winning brewery and they offer a huge selection of craft beer within the beer hall from IPAs to sours to stouts. They also do a Korean street food menu which is perfect to enjoy after a pint or two. It was already very lively in the early evening and I can see why this gem is so popular!
The Three Tun
Set within a centuries old pub The Three Tuns keeps a traditional pub atmosphere while being warm, cosy and welcoming. They serve standard pub fair and drinks but is a great place to come in out the cold and rain. We could have settled here for hours!
House of Trembling Madness
As well as having an excellent name this brilliant mansion-like pub is set over several floors and hosts its own craft beer including a bottle store. They do a great menu and interesting cocktails. Another must if you're in York!
